Welcome to Eden season 2 renewal
On May 25, 2022, Netflix announced to the world that Welcome to Eden season 2 was officially happening. According to the streaming giant, the show continued to rank highly on Netflix’s global Top 10 list for non-English TV.
In week 1, the show was ranked at the No. 2 spot. Then, week 2 rolled around, and the show jumped to the No. 1 spot. In week 3, it had dropped back down to the No. 2 spot, but this was still a high ranking. To finish up the first month, the show sat at the No. 4 spot on the list in its fourth week. Overall, in the show’s first month on the streamer, it managed to accumulate a whopping 131,310,000 million viewing hours. This was truly an impressive feat!
Is Welcome to Eden season 2 filming?
No, production has already wrapped on the second season. According to an Instagram post by Amaia Aberasturi, who plays Zoa in the thriller series, the cameras officially stopped rolling on July 1, 2022. She said the cast and crew had filmed the second season for three months.
Here’s the English translation of the post’s caption below:
"End of filming of #Eden 2Thank you team for these 3 months! you areOh… already looking forward to seeing the result and sharing it with you!"
As reported by Netflix, Welcome to Eden season 2 was shot in different locations in Spain, such as Lanzarote, Barcelona, and Teruel.
Welcome to Eden ending explained
The first season ends with Zoa almost making it to the boat to leave Eden, but then she sees her sister Gabi arriving on the island and stops in her tracks. Elsewhere, Africa pushes a button on a machine in a secret room in Astrid and Erick’s apartment, accidentally sending a signal to outer space. She tries to turn off the alert but to no avail. She then tries to leave the room by getting on the elevator, but it closes before she can hop on. Charly makes it to the boat safely while Mayka watches him through a drone. She decides not to tell on him. Lastly, Ibon drowns Ulises and then pulls his body further into the ocean.
What could Welcome to Eden season 2 be about?
For starters, we need to know what Zoa is going to do now that her sister has arrived on the island. Will she stay on the island to watch over her sister, or is she and her sister going to try to escape once they reunite? What about the signal that was sent to space? How will this affect the island? And what about Africa? Remember, she’s trapped in the secret room in Astrid and Erick’s apartment. I’m sure someone will find her, but what will happen to her once she’s found? Whatever happens to Africa after she’s rescued can’t be good.
Also, we still don’t know who Isaac really is and what the Eden Foundation is. We know how the Eden Foundation was started and why it was formed, but there’s definitely more to it. Issac has a close bond with Astrid and Erick, but what’s their relationship? Could he be their son? We also need to figure out who stabbed Erick. There’s a lot to be explored in the second season, and we can’t wait to see how everything plays out.
Here’s what Netflix said about the second season’s plot:
"In this new season, mystery and danger at the island keep growing and Eden Foundation welcomes new characters."
We have new plot details to share regarding the upcoming season.
"With new threats on the island and no way out, the rebellion ignites an intense battle for freedom while Astrid carries out her plans for the New Eden."
