The Snow Girl season 2 and more Javier Castillo adaptations in the works at Netflix

Fans have been waiting several months now for updates on Netflix’s addictive Spanish thriller series The Snow Girl, based on the Javier Castillo book. The Snow Girl ended with a significant cliffhanger, hinting at a potential new case for Miren to follow.

Spoilers ahead for the end of The Snow Girl

If you recall, at the end of season 1, Miren received an envelope containing a photograph of a tied-up young woman stuffed inside someone’s trunk. It’s a similar situation to what happened with Amaya and suggests that Miren will be embarking on another investigation in season 2. That works because Javier Castillo’s series does contain another book called The Soul Game.

It’s possible that season 2 will also feature more information on Miren’s rapists since she didn’t find out who her assailants were in the first season.

The Snow Girl season 2 is happening at Netflix

The Euro TV Place reports that The Snow Girl season 2 is officially in the works at Netflix. According to the article, the second season is already in pre-production, so there is a good chance we’ll get to see it premiere around the same time in 2024, maybe in January, just like season 1.

Netflix to adapt more Javier Castillo books

In addition to adapting The Soul Game as a sequel to The Snow Girl, Netflix is also reportedly adapting another Javier Castillo novel titled El cuco de cristal, or The Crystal Cuckoo, another popular novel in Spain.

The Crystal Cuckoo follows a medical student who receives a heart transplant and is invited by the donor’s mother to visit her home, where they learn more about how the family is entangled in a decades-long mystery involving the disappearance of a baby. It sounds a bit similar to the plot of the Netflix horror series Chambers.
