The show takes us to the small town of Deerfield and is centered around Dusty Hubbard (O’Dowd). When a mysterious machine appears in the town’s general store, the residents start to reevaluate their life choices and ambitions, per the synopsis. That’s because this piece of technology seemingly reveals everyone’s “true life potential.”

Dusty is happy with his life as a family man and high school teacher but starts to question whether he really is content when everyone around him does the same.
