All American: Homecoming season 3: Will there be another season?

All American has been one of the most popular acquired series to stream on Netflix, so it’s only fitting that its spinoff, All American: Homecoming, should have home on the streaming service as well. Now that season 2 has come to an end on The CW, will there be an All American: Homecoming season 3?

The sports drama series first premiered on The CW in February 2022 and landed a second season renewal that May. All American: Homecoming managed to survive the network’s great cancellation sweep, which saw the abrupt endings of an unprecedented number of shows.

Of course, as the second season wraps up its televised run, those cancellation jitters are starting to settle in once again. Since All American has already earned a renewal for its sixth season, will All American: Homecoming season 3 join its parent series in the fall?

Will there be an All American: Homecoming season 3?

Yes! On June 12, The CW officially renewed All American: Homecoming season 3 after weeks of keeping the series and its fans in limbo. No one has to worry anymore! All American: Homecoming season 3 is happening on The CW, one of the network’s four holdover series nabbing a renewal along with All American, Walker, and Superman & Lois.

According to Deadline, the third season will contain 13 episodes, in line with its first season but down two episodes from season 2. The episode count shouldn’t cause concern provided the network’s budget cuts and the ongoing writers’ strike. Deadline also notes that the renewal comes with budget cuts, which could include cast reductions from series regular to supporting.

As of the second season’s finale date on March 27, The CW hadn’t announced the show’s fate. Beyond All American season 6, The CW had not revealed any additional renewals or cancellations for its scripted series, but we now know that Walker: Independence, The Winchesters, Kung Fu, and Gotham Knights have officially and unfortunately been canceled and won’t be moved to another network.

When is All American: Homecoming season 3 coming to Netflix?

All American: Homecoming season 3 has yet to be given a release timeframe on The CW. While its sire series has landed a tentative premiere in fall 2023 (again, the ongoing writers’ strike could further delay slated fall premieres), Homecoming could likely be benched for midseason in 2024.

Because renewed shows haven’t been able to go into production since new episodes are unable to be written until the strike is resolved, our favorite shows are at a standstill in June 2023. Whenever All American: Homecoming’s third season does go into production, we probably won’t see it premiere until 2024, meaning the next 13 episodes won’t hit Netflix until well into 2024, too.

The CW’s shows typically arrive on Netflix eight days after their televised season finales, but we’ll know more about exactly when that will be after Homecoming season 3 finally makes its premiere.
