Spoilers ahead for I See You

But for those who aren’t enjoying the movie, are too scared to finish it, or are just ready to know what happens, we’ve spoiled the ending for you below and answered some burning questions!

I See You ending: Who is terrorizing the Harper family?

About halfway through I See You, the movie changes perspectives and switches to the POV of two phroggers filming a documentary on the phrogging phenomenon. The phroggers are Mindy and Alec. “Phrogging” is when individuals secretly sneak into peoples’ houses to live there without the homeowner’s knowledge. And yes, as frightening as that concept is, it is a real thing.

Mindy and Alec are homeless, but rather than sleeping in a shelter or the subway, Mindy teaches Alec how to phrog. For Mindy, the goal is to cause minimal disturbance, so she doesn’t get caught and arrested. But Alec has different plans in mind. He soon becomes obsessed with tormenting the Harper family by gaslighting them into thinking they’re going crazy.

Alec is responsible for peeing on Greg’s bed, cutting the eyes out of all the photographs, turning on the record player, dropping the mug on Todd’s head, and all the other strange phenomena the family experiences throughout the first half of the film. Once we meet Alec and Mindy, I See You takes us through these events from their perspective.

I See You ending: Who is the serial killer in I See You?

One of the most climactic twists in I See You is the reveal that the serial killer is none other than homicide detective Greg Harper. We learn that he framed Cole Gordon more than a decade ago for killing six boys. Greg stopped killing and kidnapping for a long time, but discovering his wife Jackie’s affair seems to have triggered him and caused him to begin again. He’s the one responsible for kidnapping Justin Whitter.

I See You ending: What happens at the end of I See You?

The movie’s end reveals that Alec is one of the two survivors who escaped from Greg as a child. We met Tommy early in the film, but the identity of the second boy was kept secret. One of the most significant clues comes toward the end when Alec ties up Greg’s son Connor and leaves behind a green pocketknife, which Greg often leaves at the scene of his crimes.

Mindy and Alec get into a violent skirmish with Greg, and Greg kills Mindy. Alec kills Greg in retaliation and gets shot but survives long enough to signal to Detective Spitzky, who recognizes Alec as one of the survivors. The two boys Greg kidnapped, including Justin Whitter, manage to escape.
