From the producers of Netflix’s hit series Blood and Water comes a gritty new South African crime series called Unseen, starring South African actress Gail Mabalane. Mabalane played the lead role of Thandeka Khumalo (Puleng’s mother) in Blood and Water.

This thought-provoking thriller follows a seemingly unremarkable cleaning lady named Zenzi Mwale (Mabalane) who finds herself thrust into the seedy, underground world of a dangerous crime syndicate while searching for her husband.

During her search, Zenzi accidentally murders an important member of the crime syndicate and must continue killing to stay ahead of the gangsters now hot on her trail. Luckily, being a cleaning lady provides a good cover story for her. The plot sounds a little similar to the recent FOX drama series The Cleaning Lady, so if you like that show, I’m sure Unseen will appeal to you.

Filmed on location in Cape Town, South Africa, Unseen was created by Blood and Water writers Travis Taute and Daryne Joshua.

"UNSEEN is a thought-provoking crime thriller about a timid and seemingly common cleaning lady, Zenzi Mwale, who while undertaking a desperate search for her husband who went missing after his release from prison, unexpectedly commits the murder of a crime syndicate’s key player.When one of the gangsters cottons on to her crime, attempting to use her for his own nefarious deeds, Zenzi’s only way to stay alive and out of prison is to continue killing, while she continues to search for her husband, and ultimately uncovering a massive conspiracy involving a corrupt bank and powerful people… all of this while staying completely hidden behind her identity as the unremarkable help."

Unseen cast

As mentioned above, Blood and Water star Gail Mabalane plays Zenzi Mwale, a cleaning lady who must embark on a perilous journey into the criminal world to find her husband after he disappears upon being released from prison.
