Maestro in Blue season 2 renewal status: Will there be another season?

Maestro in Blue is a Greek Netflix original created by Christopher Papakaliatis. It follows a musician named Orestis who travels to the small island of Paxos to organize a music festival at the request of mayoral candidate and businessman, Fanis. But what Orestis wasn’t expecting to happen when he arrived on the island was to fall in love and find himself involved in other people’s problems.

Papakaliatis leads the cast as the protagonist, Orestis. Klelia Andriolatou, Fanis Mouratidis, Maria Kavoyianni, Marisha Triantafyllidou, Orestis Chalkias, Yorgos Benos, Haris Alexiou, and many others join him in the cast.

Is Maestro in Blue season 2 happening at Netflix?

As of March 20, Netflix has not announced whether the romantic drama will be returning for a second season. This shouldn’t really be surprising since the show just recently dropped on Netflix. The streaming giant doesn’t typically renew its new shows as soon as they are released. Instead, Netflix usually waits to see how many people tune in and watch a show in a specific time frame before coming to a decision on its fate.

The first 28 days of a show’s release are very important. Netflix will most likely look at how many people streamed Maestro in Blue season 1 in its first four weeks on the platform to help decide whether to renew or cancel. If the viewing hours from the first month are high enough to Netflix’s standards, Maestro in Blue will have a better chance of being renewed. If not, the romantic drama series will not likely be renewed for an additional installment.

However, it looks like Maestro in Blue may already be renewed for a second season, according to the Greek Reporter. As reported by the news outlet, Christopher Papakaliatis spoke with Alpha TV and said that production on Maestro in Blue season 2 would start on “April 1 at the latest and takes place in Athens and Paxos.” Papakaliatis is also believed to have said that Maestro in Blue season 2 would introduce new characters as well as be the final season. He said the second season would air on Greek television first and then become available to stream on Netflix at a later date.

But keep in mind that Netflix has not confirmed this information, so we’ll have to take it with a grain of salt. Even if Maestro in Blue is actually renewed, this doesn’t mean that Netflix will stream the second season. If Netflix chooses to pass on a second season, Maestro in Blue season 2 will air on Greek TV only. So, for now, we’ll have to believe Maestro in Blue has not been renewed yet until Netflix makes an official announcement.
