We’re still a few months away from the highly-anticipated new John Wick movies, but Netflix’s intense dark Korean action film Kill Boksoon might just be the perfect thing to tide John Wick fans over until then.

Starring Crash Course in Romance‘s Jeon Do-Yeon, Kill Boksoon follows a trained assassin ready to retire so she can spend more time with her daughter. She might have killing down pat, but it’s parenting that’s proven to be the real challenge.

Unfortunately, when Boksoon embarks on her so-called “last” mission, she breaks a few rules regarding killing everyone she’s assigned to, no matter the circumstances, making her enemy no. 1 by every other hitman at her agency. Can she survive as a horde of trained murderers tries to take her out?

This R-rated action film comes from Byun Sung-Hyun, the director of movies like Kingmaker and The Merciless. Kill Boksoon looks like it’s going to be a sleek, stylish thrill ride with plenty of jaw-dropping fighting sequences. You won’t want to miss it, so keep reading to get all the details.

Kill Boksoon will be released on Netflix on Friday, March 31, 2023. For those living on the west coast, you can start watching at midnight on release day, while east coast viewers will need to wait until 3:00 a.m. ET.

As mentioned above, Crash Course in Romance star Jeon Do-Yeon takes on the lead role in this action film as Gil Boksoon. She’s also joined by Kingdom: Ashin of the North actress Kim Si-a, Yaksha: Ruthless Operations actor Sol Kyung-gu and more. Actress Esom, known for her breakout role in Scarlet Innocence, also stars, as does Koo Kyo-hwan, who you might recognize from the Netflix Original D.P.

The official Netflix synopsis is as follows:

"Hired by the killing agency MK Ent., Gil Boksoon is both a killer with a 100% success rate and a mother of her teenage daughter, Jae-young. While Boksoon might be a seasoned assassin, she struggles with parenting. When it is about time to renew her contract with her agency, she makes up her mind to retire to repair the relationship with her daughter. While on her final assignment, before notifying the company of her decision regarding the contract, Boksoon discovers a secret about the mission and breaks the rule that killers must try to execute all assignments regardless of the circumstances. Now she becomes the target of her agency and the entire hitman industry."
