Is Ben Barnes leaving Shadow and Bone after season 2?

With everything that happens at the end of Shadow and Bone season 2, is it possible that Ben Barnes is leaving the series? Here’s what we know.

Ben Barnes was certainly a drawing factor when it came to Shadow and Bone. Who doesn’t love to watch Price Caspian on the TV? Of course, we then found out that he would be the villain of the story, and he’s far worse in the second season than he was the first.

Shadow and Bone season 2 didn’t just cover the second book in the Grishaverse trilogy. It also covered the third book, which included the end of The Darkling and The Fold. Yes, that’s right. There is no ore Darkling. Alina kills him and takes down The Fold for good.

Will Ben Barnes be in Shadow and Bone season 3?

Netflix hasn’t confirmed a third season will even happen yet. However, it looks like it will be a certain villain down. The ending to season 2 made it look like Ben Barnes is out, not that he confirmed anything before the end of the season.

That being said, The Darkling does make a comeback in the book series. After Ruin and Rising, the story picks up with King of Scars. This book follows Nikolai and Zoya after the events of the Grishaverse trilogy, and it tells us that The Darkling wasn’t completely killed.

At one point, his body is burned but his spirit goes into Yuri Vedenen, one of The Darkling’s followers. The Darkling isn’t happy about this, especially since he doesn’t have his powers and Yuri’s mind is still in there with his. So, he turns to Zoya to help him move on, and she agrees to help.

If the series follows the next set of books, it is possible that we could see Ben Barnes return. The show could figure something out.
