Netflix series Sex/Life from showrunner Stacy Rukeyser gained a reputation for being a little over-the-top and crazy during its first season, whether because of moments like main character Billie propositioning her ex-boyfriend for an affair or the highly-discussed shower scene, Sex/Life left a mark.

Spoilers ahead for Sex/Life season 2

Whether or not that was a good or bad thing is up to the individual, but one thing is for sure, Sex/Life season 2 has way more ridiculous-bordering-on-absurd moments for viewers to enjoy and meme to death on social media.

Ridiculous moments from Sex/Life season 2

Cooper and Francesca banging in the office

The fantasy of having sex in an office might be hot to some, but it never goes according to plan when executed in reality. Cooper and Francesca find that out very fast in the first episode when they get caught pants-down by their higher-ups.

Cooper’s wonton proposition

Cooper’s relationship with Francesca doesn’t last long. Their first night together after losing their jobs sees him going to a Chinese restaurant and having dirty bathroom sex with a random blond woman who propositions him over some wontons.

Trina and Cooper’s handcuff debacle

Cooper’s downward spiral this season is so ridiculous. First, there is the lady at the Chinese restaurant, then he pursues his best friend’s wife, and they start getting frisky while Cooper’s kids are home. Inevitably, Hudson walks in and witnesses Trina handcuffing his dad to his bed. The poor kid is, understandably, confused and traumatized by the incident. I mean, Cooper, couldn’t you have at least locked the door!

Trina and Billie’s naked seaweed wrap apology

Why did we need a scene of Trina and Billie being naked and getting covered in seaweed wrap goo for Trina to apologize to Billie?

For a show that really hasn’t legitimately bothered exploring the LGBTQIA+ community at all (except Cooper’s gay brother who has maybe 10 minutes of screentime total this season and only one chaste kiss and Sasha’s blink-and-you’ll-miss-it threesome scene—and I could write a dissertation on why that’s problematic for bisexual representation, but I digress), it felt… strange to have the only sequence of two women being naked together come from two straight characters trying to make amends. It just seemed unnecessary and ridiculous, and dare I say, male gaze-y?

Who was that scene for? As a bisexual woman, it didn’t do anything but remind me that Sex/Life doesn’t explore sapphic relationships.

Brad’s random lawsuit

Midway through the season, Brad gets embroiled in a massive, multimillion-dollar lawsuit. The show sets it up like it will be a big deal, but it’s barely a blip in his storyline. The lawsuit is mentioned in like two scenes, and we don’t ever learn the extent of it, just that Brad loses his company over it.

Majid’s casual prostitution

Billie catches Majid cheating on her with one of his investors, a woman named Crystal. He explains the situation by casually mentioning he essentially pimped himself out to her in exchange for her investing in his restaurant. It’s all very blasé when they discuss it.

Brad showing up literally everywhere

Everywhere Billie turns, there’s Brad! There’s usually a semi-logical reason, but the way it plays out makes it seem like Brad is living his Joe Goldberg fantasy.

Caroline and Sven’s affair

While at the spa, Caroline casually reveals she’s having an affair with a creepy and predatory masseuse named Sven. We find out because he tries going down on Trina, who freaks out and wants to report him, but Caroline asks her not to because she likes hooking up with him, as if what Sven is doing isn’t weird and illegal. Just because Caroline wants it doesn’t mean it’s okay for him to casually traumatize his other clients.

Poor Hudson

Billie and Cooper’s son Hudson got the short end of the stick this season. He’s traumatized by his parent’s divorce; then he has to walk in on his dad getting handcuffed to the bed by a woman that’s not his mom. Cooper blows him off after hyping him up to take him snowing. Majid ruins his day by not taking him to a Yankees game despite promising to do so. Then he gets spooked by a fire at Majid’s restaurant and runs away. This poor kid needs a break and a nice day out.

Cooper doing cocaine outside a courthouse

Seconds after finalizing his divorce (and custody agreement), Cooper does cocaine in full view of the courthouse. Imagine if he got arrested and lost custody of his kids right there and then.

Everything involving Piper and Bianca

Speaking of the cocaine, that incident leads into a wild night at a hotel where Devon buys the services of two escorts (because, of course, he does), Piper and Bianca. The foursome does more coke, and at one point, Cooper throws a chair out the window and off the balcony? I don’t know. The whole thing felt like a bad riff on The Hangover movies, complete with a crazy car race down dark roads that results in Cooper flipping his car with one of the girls in the passenger seat.

Devon’s reconstructed penis

I get it, Sex/Life needed to find a way to top the shower scene from season 1, but did we need to see Devon’s penis with a penile pump implant that allows him to inflate it? It was so absurd it was hilarious but definitely ridiculous.

Also, guess why Devon needed reconstruction in the first place? Remember that car crash I mentioned above? Well, one of the escorts was going down on Devon at the time and bit off his penis. The whole scene would have been very at home in an episode of Nip/Tuck, complete with the penile pump implant. I was surprised Dr. Christian Troy didn’t show up.
