Netflix shows to watch Super Bowl Sunday

In January and February 2023, Netflix released two new young adult series that are already attracting a strong following. They are both great options for a weekend binge-watch in place of watching the big game on Sunday.

Lockwood & Co.

Based on the book series of the same name by Jonathan Stroud, Lockwood & Co. premiered on Jan. 27 and ranked as the most-watched show in its first week of release. It’s also been in the top 10 since its release, which means people are loving the supernatural thriller.

Lockwood & Co. centers on a trio of teens that takes it upon themselves to battle against all things supernatural and ghostly without adult supervision. Together, the three young ghost hunters find themselves untangling a complex mystery that has ripple effects for the entire world.

Freeridge

You probably remember the fan-favorite and critically acclaimed Netflix original teen series On My Block. The series ran for four seasons and was often left underrated, considering how good the series was and how much fans adored the stories. Well, it’s back with a brand-new spinoff.

Freeridge takes place in the same town as On My Block and follows the misadventures of a new core four as they contend with a curse that now has them facing some unfortunate circumstances. The series has performed modestly, but’s still a charming series worth discovering.
