It’s official, Netflix’s That ’90s Show is returning for season 2! The streaming giant has ordered 16 more episodes (six more episodes than season 1) of the sitcom, which is a continuation of the popular That ’70s Show series that aired on Fox from 1998 to 2006. But when could the new episodes arrive? Keep on reading to find out the latest updates and possible release date for That ’90s Show season 2.

Season 1 introduced Leia Forman (Callie Haverda) — the daughter of Eric Foreman (Topher Grace) and Donna Pinciotti (Laura Prepon) — who, after deciding to stay with her grandparents, Kitty (Debra Jo Rupp) and Red (Kurtwood Smith), forms her very own basement crew. Check out the official logline, via Netflix’s Media Center, below:

"“Hello, Wisconsin! It’s 1995 and Leia Forman, daughter of Eric and Donna, is visiting her grandparents for the summer, where she bonds with a new generation of Point Place kids under the watchful eye of Kitty and the stern glare of Red. Sex, drugs and rock ’n roll never dies, it just changes clothes.”"

Does That ’90s Show season 2 have a release date?

At this time of writing, That ’90s Show season 2 doesn’t have an official release date, and we feel like we still have a bit of a wait until its return. Because the show was just renewed, the streaming giant will likely need at least a year, if not more, to put together season 2. So don’t expect the second installment of the popular sitcom until at least mid-2024. Fortunately, this show likely doesn’t need a ton of time in post-production, compared to other Netflix hits like Stranger Things. Once we know when the crew will start filming the second season, then we’ll have a better idea of when it’ll come out. But for now, we’re expecting it some time next year.

According to reporting provided by the streaming platform, Netflix’s audience spent over 41 million hours watching the new teen sitcom in the first week of its release. “Going to Point Place last season was a real treat for all of us. We’re thrilled to return,” co-creator and executive producer Lindsey Turner told Tudum.

The second season of That ’90s Show will be based in 1996 and will see the new basement crew reunite for another summer of teen drama and fun.
