On My Block fans can finally head back to the neighborhood of Freeridge in the aptly titled spinoff series of the same name, releasing on Thursday, Feb. 3, only on Netflix. The new show will follow a group of friends who inadvertently set off a curse that upends their lives after messing around with a mysterious old box.

If you loved On My Block, then Freeridge should be at the top of your watchlist, as this upcoming series will feature several callbacks and maybe even a few familiar faces from the original Netflix show.

Whether you’re a previous fan of On My Block or Freeridge just sounds appealing to you, below we’re going over the show’s age rating and parents guide so you can determine whether or not it is appropriate for you and your family to watch together.

What is Freeridge rated? Freeridge age range and age rating

Like its parent series On My Block, Freeridge is rated TV-14 for language. The TV-14 label means the show might not be suitable for children under 14. A reasonable age range seems to target viewers between 14 and 16, although the show is also enjoyable for older viewers (I’m almost 30 and found it very funny and charming!).

Freeridge parents guide

Parents need to know that while Freeridge is not graphic or explicit, it features coarse language and many sex jokes/references to sex and other mature content. If your kids have seen On My Block, they should be okay to watch the spinoff, as Freeridge is a little tamer than its predecessor, at least in terms of violence and overall scariness. Freeridge also contains underage drinking and partying.

The first season of Freeridge features eight episodes, and each installment is about 30 minutes or less. To get a better idea of what to expect from the series, check out the official trailer for the spinoff series below.

Freeridge premieres on Tuesday, Feb. 2. Add the series to your Netflix watchlist now.
