By now basically, everyone who watches television has seen, or at least heard of Netflix’s massively successful new series Wednesday, based on the popular and iconic Addams Family franchise, specifically the character Wednesday Addams. Scream star Jenna Ortega plays the title role and has received significant acclaim for her portrayal, even earning herself a Golden Globe nomination.

But it’s not just Ortega that makes the show worthwhile, she’s joined by an excellent cast that includes Gwendoline Christie, Fred Armisen, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Luis Guzmán, and more. The teen actors are just as great, with special attention paid to Wednesday’s Nevermore Academy roommate and eventual best friend, the werewolf Enid Sinclair.

Given Wednesday and Enid’s “opposites attract” relationship, it’s not surprising that fans have taken to shipping the two characters together romantically. The ship is known as “Wenclair” online, and there are hundreds of edits, fanfiction pieces, and more surrounding the couple.

Ortega and Myers have previously indicated support for the ship, albeit remaining coy on whether or not it will ever actually happen. In Wednesday season 1, Wednesday was in a love triangle with Percy Hynes White’s character Xavier and Hunter Doohan’s Tyler. Could there be room for Wenclair in Wednesday season 2?

Emma Myers thinks Wednesday needs to be single in season 2

After everything Wednesday went through in season 1, Myers tells Variety that she feels Wednesday “needs to take her season of singleness.” I’m inclined to agree. As much as I enjoyed Wednesday season 1, I was really disappointed by the love triangle subplot. It didn’t feel true to Wednesday’s character, and it dragged the whole show down. I’d much rather see Wednesday stay single for a while, but I wouldn’t be opposed to her getting a female love interest at some point.

Myers continued, adding, “[Wednesday] just had a whole fiasco with her men, she’s got to lay it off for a little bit. I would be deterred from dating anybody if I had gone through that.”

On Wenclair, Emma Myers says ‘anything is possible’

Even though the Enid actress thinks Wednesday needs to stay single for a while, she also notes that “anything is possible” when it comes to the potential romantic future of Enid and Wednesday.

However, don’t expect Myers to spill the beans on anything from the upcoming season, she says she’s been kept in the dark and has no clue what’s in store for her character or the rest of the cast.

“We haven’t really spoken about direction at all, so I don’t really know what the game plan is for anything,” Myers tells the outlet.

Wednesday is now streaming on Netflix. Stay tuned to Netflix Life for more updates on Wednesday season 2.
