The Watcher season 2 latest updates (February 2023)

Just 20 days after its debut, Ryan Murphy’s smash hit thriller series The Watcher —  inspired by the events detailed in a Cut article by Reeves Wiedeman — was renewed for season 2. The drama, starring Naomi Watts and Bobby Cannavale as Nora and Dean Brannock, was originally meant to be a limited series, but after topping streaming charts it was an easy decision for Netflix execs to order another season.

But if you were hoping to get back to 657 Boulevard at any point during the month of love, then be prepared for some disappointment as The Watcher season 2 is not coming to Netflix in February 2023.

While it may be a bit of a blow that the wait for the second installment continues, it shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise given that the series originally made its Netflix debut on Oct. 13, 2022.

Although it is great news that The Watcher season 2 has already been confirmed to be in the works, an exact release date for the upcoming season has yet to be announced by the streaming giant. However, we still may be able to offer you a prediction as to when we might see the new episodes of the suspenseful drama.

According to IMDb, season 1 took six months to film and then was released seven months later, and we expect a similar time frame of production for season 2. Given that the series began as a limited series, season 2 has yet to be written so filming is highly unlikely to have begun.

Once filming commences and wraps, we then expect a minimum of six months for the series to spend in post-production. So, unfortunately, the earliest we foresee The Watcher season being released on Netflix is in early 2024. Of course, given that this is just our prediction, the official release date could be a lot sooner (or later) than we’ve said, so we urge you to take this information with a grain of salt.
