On the heels of the Academy Awards nominations going live this week, many Netflix subscribers are flocking to the service to see which Oscar-nominated movies they can watch at home. Which Netflix movies are worth checking out, and which can you skip?

This weekend, Netflix has an epic new WWII drama, a rom-com starring Jonah Hill, and an older film featuring Mark Ruffalo and Keira Knightley was also recently added to the streaming catalog. With so many options to choose from, we’re helping you narrow down your choices so you can plan your perfect movie night this weekend.

Best Netflix movies to watch (and skip) this weekend

Which Oscar noms on Netflix are must-watches, and which are duds? Here are which Netflix movies to watch (and skip) this weekend.

Begin Again

Watch! Keira Knightley and Mark Ruffalo co-star in this 2013 musical comedy-drama; what more reason do you need to watch? Not only did this film receive positive reviews, but it’s a sweet and heartfelt film that follows aspiring songwriter Gretta (Knightley) as she works with a disgraced record executive (Ruffalo) on her first album.

You People

Skip! Despite featuring a stacked cast with great actors like Jonah Hill, Eddie Murphy, and Julia Louis-Dreyfuss, You People is so far receiving middling reviews from critics who say the film plays it too safe and is rather predictable. But if you love the cast and enjoy rom-coms, this might be a good choice for the weekend.

Narvik

Watch! The WWII drama Narvik has taken the Netflix Top 10 by storm this week. The Norwegian war movie is about Hitler’s first military defeat.

Blonde

Skip! You might be considering checking out Blonde after seeing that Ana de Armas recently scored an Oscar nomination for her portrayal of Marilyn Monroe in the movie, but I’d advise against it. Blonde is a misogynistic mess of a film from start to finish, and it seems to have an active distaste for Monroe. De Armas does deliver a strong performance, but otherwise, it’s not worth watching.

All Quiet on the Western Front

Watch! Speaking of Academy Awards nominations, Netflix’s German anti-war epic based on the iconic novel of the same name by Erich Maria Remarque drummed up nine nominations, including one for Best Picture. It might be the perfect pick for this weekend if you haven’t gotten around to watching it yet.
