The Elephant Whisperers is a short nature and ecology documentary directed by Kartiki Gonsalves and produced by Guneet Monga and Achin Jain. It was filmed in 2019 in South India and followed a couple taking care of an orphaned baby elephant named Raghu.

The Elephant Whisperers premiered on Netflix on Dec. 8, 2022, and most viewers enjoyed it. It’s a short yet sweet documentary focusing on a blended family consisting of humans and an elephant. So if you’re an animal lover or just love nature, this should definitely be added to your watchlist.

What is The Elephant Whisperers about on Netflix?

It’s about a tribal couple, Bomman and Bellie, who fall in love with an abandoned elephant and devote their lives to raising him in a rural Indian village. This documentary shows the unique, intense, and unbreakable bond that’s formed between the two elephant caretakers and Raghu. It also shows how the couple works hard to ensure Raghu’s recovery and survival. Lastly, viewers get a glimpse into Raghu’s daily life as the couple takes care of him.

The documentary is rated PG for mild thematic elements. However, we believe you should have no problem watching it with kids if you choose to do so. Also, as we mentioned earlier, it’s a short documentary. It only has a runtime of 40 minutes, so it’s a quick watch.
