When Netflix’s comedy-drama Mo premiered in August 2022, the series became critically acclaimed and popular with viewers on the streaming service. It really is a treat to watch! Fans of the show will be happy to know the series has been renewed for a second season.

The show follows the titular character, a Palestinian refugee seeking citizenship in the U.S. Mo has to deal with two cultures, three languages, and his many struggles on the path to asylum. And it’s not just himself he has to worry about; it’s his family as well. The endearing character learns to laugh the pain away but still has to face the struggles in his way.

The series stars Mohammed “Mo” Amer, who plays a fictionalized version of himself, Farah Bsieso as Yusra, Omar Elba as Sameer, Teresa Ruiz as Maria, and Tobe Nwigwe as Nick. Amer also executive produces alongside Ramy Youssef from the Hulu series Ramy. The series is partly based on Amer’s real-life experiences.

So what do we know about season 2 so far? We’ve got the answer for you below!

Netflix renews Mo for a second (and final) season

According to Netflix TUDUM website, season 2 of the comedy will also be the show’s last. The story will be wrapped up, giving the Palestinian refugee’s journey to gain asylum in Houston a proper ending. Amer told TUDUM:

"I’m thankful to continue to tell a universal story of struggle that relates to so many refugees and millions of under-represented humans trying to be seen around the globe, and to be able to bring the people who loved and rooted for Mo Najjar along for the ride as we close this chapter of his story."

Amer, Ruiz, Bsieso, and Elba are all set to reprise their roles as series regulars, the website shares. No other details are known just yet. What’s nice is that it didn’t take too long for the streamer to provide us with renewal news. It’s been five months since the eight-episode season dropped on Netflix, and we couldn’t be happier to get more of Mo’s story!

We need to find out just how he’s going to get out of the sticky situation he’s found himself in, as we saw in the last moments of the first season’s finale episode. With no U.S. citizenship and Mo stuck in Mexico, how is he going to be able to cross the border?
