Prince Harry confesses to fact-checking The Crown as he watches

When it comes to The Crown, the Netflix original drama has always drawn criticism from the Royal Family as well as from royal insiders — and understandably so. After all, the series is about the UK Monarchy and the very real figures within it including Queen Elizabeth II, Prince Charles, and Princess Diana to name just a few of the key figures featured at the heart of the show.

Over the years, the Royal Family has had a lot to say about the show sometimes without saying anything directly to the press. While the early seasons of the show were not quite as headline-worthy, as the show has gone on it’s waded into more recent decades in the monarchy’s history which often has lead to it being the talk of the tabloids in the UK.

It’s understandable, after all, season 4 of the show did add Princess Diana to the mix and anyone who has followed the Royal Family over the years knows of the controversies which unfolded.

Of course, as the show has begun covering more recent events, there has been more and more talk about whether the Royal Family watches the show and what exactly they think of it. While most remain mum about the subject, Prince Harry has become one of the first members of the family to openly address his thoughts on the show.

Does Prince Harry watch The Crown?

During an appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert to promote his new book Spare, Prince Harry spoke candidly about a number of topics with the late-night host including Netflix’s The Crown. When asked about the show, Prince Harry confirmed he does indeed watch the show telling Colbert he has watched both the older stuff and the more recent stuff.

Not only does Prince Harry watch the show, but he also fact-checks it as he watches which honestly makes perfect sense given it’s his family and he’d know better than anyone what exactly is accurate and overly fictionalized for the show.

While the question about whether he fact-checks the show was initially made as a joke by Colbert which Prince Harry quickly got in on, the former working member of the Royal Family did confirm he does in fact fact-check it actually while watching.
