Ginny & Georgia season 2 has certainly been a wild ride! So much happened this season. The show’s sophomore season delivered lots of drama and was definitely worth the wait.

For most of this season, we see the mother and daughter at odds. Ginny is trying to live with the fact that she knows Georgia killed her stepdad, Kenny. She struggles with this knowledge and other challenges with how her mother confronts issues.

Zion was there for his daughter much more, and Ginny finally went to a therapist to get the help she needed. Thankfully, the mother and daughter do makeup later in the season. But before they do, in season 2, episode 3, Ginny taunts Georgia, saying, “we’re all such a happy family. You, me, Paul, Austin, Mary.”

When Georgia hears the name Mary, she is shocked and nervous. Who exactly is Mary, though, and why did the titular character have such a strong reaction hearing the name?

Who is Mary in Ginny & Georgia?

We actually know the name Mary as it was mentioned in the show’s first season. Since the inaugural season debuted in 2021, Netflix’s TUDUM site has provided a great refresher on who Mary is. If you remember, back in season 1, it was revealed that Georgia Miller isn’t her real name. Her actual name is Mary.

In flashbacks, we see the teen escaping her abusive home, where her stepfather abused her. Her mother, a drug user, was too high to notice or do anything, and we still don’t know who Georgia’s father is as he hasn’t been in the picture.

As she’s on the run, Mary meets the “Blood Eyes” biker gang. When they ask her for her name, Mary/Georgia chooses a new identity. From that day on, Mary becomes Georgia.

Ginny & Georgia season 2 is now streaming on Netflix.
