Netflix shows likely to be renewed 2023

In the past year, Netflix has gained a reputation for canceling a lot of its original series. Warrior Nun, First Kill, 1899, and more had their runs cut short for various reasons, but there are still handfuls of hit Netflix shows that are highly likely to be renewed in 2023.

Bridgerton, The Lincoln Lawyer, and Virgin River will each premiere new seasons in 2023 from previous renewals, but each could very well be renewed again. However, we’re looking closely at new shows such as FUBAR, Fake Profile (which has been renewed!), and XO, Kitty, as well as other series that have a chance to score a renewal from Netflix.

Thankfully, Netflix announced the renewal of Wednesday season 2, That ’90s Show season 2, The Recruit season 2, Outer Banks season 4, The Night Agent season 2, The Diplomat season 2, and Ginny & Georgia season 3 and 4, which comes as a great relief to worried fans. Meanwhile, other series like Shadow and Bone and Unstable might not make it on this particular list. But you never know what could happen when it comes to Netflix!

These are the Netflix show that still need to be renewed for new seasons but have the best shot of nabbing that coveted renewal, beginning below with XO, Kitty.

Will XO, Kitty be renewed or canceled?

The spinoff series of the hit Netflix original romantic comedy trilogy To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before arrived on Netflix in May 2023 and was met with warm reception from viewers. XO, Kitty centers on Lara Jean Covey’s matchmaker little sister Kitty (Anna Cathcart) as she embarks on her own coming-of-age journey as a teen discovering love for the first time.

Kitty travels to South Korea to attend the same boarding school as her long-distance boyfriend Dae (Choi Min-young), but when she arrives at the school on her own, she’s in for much more than she bargained for. While attending KISS, she learns so much about herself while navigating a complicated love… hexagon?

After the series made its debut on May 18, the first weekend’s viewership was much higher than expected for a half-hour romantic comedy. In its first four days of release, XO, Kitty garnered over 72 million hours viewed, while the following week, its first full week, maintained the momentum and grabbed over 63 million hours viewed.

That’s all to say that so far, XO, Kitty’s viewership numbers look like exactly what the show needs to ensure a renewal for season 2. Not only did Netflix’s most popular romantic teen series Never Have I Ever just end, but those numbers speak for themselves. XO, Kitty has so much potential that Netflix should not squander. For now, we’re hopeful the show will be renewed. UPDATE 6/14: XO, Kitty season 2 is officially happening!
