Does Marcus die in Ginny and Georgia season 2?
Ginny and Georgia season 2 is sitting at the No. 1 spot on Netflix’s top 10 list as of Jan. 6. But this comes as no surprise because Ginny and Georgia is easily one of the best teen shows streaming on Netflix. So if you haven’t started watching the new season yet, then what are you doing? You’re definitely missing out.
Spoilers ahead from Ginny and Georgia season 2.
This season touches on many sensitive topics. From the first season, we learn that Ginny (Antonia Gentry) self-harms when she is too stressed or anxious about something. Sadly, this issue worsens in season 2 because she has to deal with knowing that her mother murdered her stepfather. Then, there’s Abby (Katie Douglas), who struggles with problems at home and body dysmorphia. It’s also hinted that she may have an eating disorder. Even though we learn this information about Abby in season 1, she still deals with these problems in the second season.
But Ginny and Abby aren’t the only characters dealing with serious issues this season. We learn that Marcus suffers from depression. But this wasn’t necessarily surprising information because Marcus mentions in the first season that he had thought about dying after his friend died. He tells Ginny that after his friend died, things got really dark and bad for him, and he scared himself. I guess this was the writers’ way of setting up Marcus’s storyline for the second season.
With this newfound information about Marcus, some viewers are wondering about the character’s fate in Ginny and Georgia season 2. They want to know if he dies in the latest season. Well, you’ve come to the right place because we know the answer.
Does Marcus die in Ginny and Georgia season 2?
Fortunately, Marcus does not die in Ginny and Georgia season 2. However, we do see him struggle with this serious mental illness throughout the season. After Marcus arrives back in Wellsbury from visiting his grandparents, he starts skipping school and drinking a lot. This worries Ginny and Max. Ginny even learns from Max that when they were visiting family, Marcus stayed in his room the entire time. Also, there’s a scene where Clint Baker asks Marcus if he will join him for family movie night, but Marcus tells him no and stays in his room to sleep.
Basically, he starts pulling away from everyone and staying to himself. The only person he would really talk to is Ginny, but things eventually go south in their relationship.
After Ginny overhears a conversation between Marcus and Max, she misinterprets Marcus’s words and thinks that he doesn’t want to be with her anymore. There’s a shift in their relationship after this. Marcus ends up breaking up with Ginny but doesn’t really give her a good reason why he’s doing so. Ginny finds out through Max why Marcus broke up with her. Max tells Ginny that Marcus struggles with depression and that their parents are putting him back on medication for it.
At that moment, Ginny realizes that being in a relationship with Marcus isn’t important. She realizes that Marcus needs a friend, and that’s what she will be for him. In the season 1 finale, Ginny goes to Marcus’s house, apologizes for not being there for him, and offers to be his friend. She then gets in the bed with Marcus and cuddles him while they joke around about being friends.
Hopefully, Netflix will renew the teen series for a third season because I want to see what happens to Marcus. Will he start going to therapy? Will his mental health improve? We need that third season!
Ginny and Georgia season 2 is now streaming on Netflix.
