Stranger Things star Noah Schnapp just took to TikTok on Thursday afternoon to share some news with his followers, something he admits his friends and family already knew.

The 18-year-old actor, who rose to stardom for portraying Will Byers in the Netflix Original, used a popular TikTok sound to lip-sync over with the text: “When I finally told my friends and family I was gay after being scared in the closet for 18 years and all they said was ‘we know.’” The video has only been up for about an hour and already has almost 3 million views and over 58,000 comments, with his fans rushing to send him love and support.

In his caption, Schnapp added: “I guess I’m more similar to Will than I thought.” This, of course, is a reference to his character in the sci-fi phenomenon, who the actor confirmed this summer is gay. There had been questions about Will’s sexuality since the third season after a heated exchange with his best friend resulted in Mike telling him: “It’s not my fault you don’t like girls.”

Schnapp has been a fan-favorite of the Stranger Things fan community since the show premiered back in 2016, and he’s only become more popular with his presence on TikTok and other social media platforms. As we all wait for the final season of Stranger Things to hit Netflix, which will likely not come out until 2024, fans know we’re in for a huge storyline for Will.

In a recent interview with Forbes, Schnapp revealed that Will’s story will come full circle by the end of Stranger Things season 5: “I think they did a great job with Will’s character this season, and beautifully addressed everything they needed to. The way they closed the show is just perfect — the story started with Will, and it’ll end with Will.” As fans will remember, the show all started with him when he disappeared and was taken into the Upside Down in season 1, and he’s been watched and tormented by Vecna ever since.

Just like his fans, we are so happy for Schnapp and his decision to come out. He deserves the best!

Next. Stranger Things and 6 more Netflix shows we’ll miss in 2023. dark
