As far as crime films go, the murder mystery subgenre is one that draws audiences in as they attempt to unravel who the killer is among an array of potential suspects. Creative genius Rian Johnson — writer, director, and producer — now has two successful whodunit films under his belt, with his first, Knives Out, releasing in 2019, and the second installment in the franchise, Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mysterywhich hit theaters on November 23, 2022.

Knives Out centers around a family who live in the home of their wealthy relative, Harlan Thrombey (Christopher Plummer), who passes away abruptly under suspicious circumstances. This leads to well-known detective Benoit Blanc (Daniel Craig) being recruited to uncover the truth behind the crime.

The talent featured in the film includes Daniel Craig, Toni Collette, Chris Evans, Ana de Armas, Jamie Lee Curtis, Don Johnson, Michael Shannon, Jaeden Martell, Katherine Langford, and more. Knives Out received rave reviews for its exceptional performances among the cast, clever storyline, and shocking plot twists.

Much like its predecessor, Glass Onion has an impressive lineup of actors, with the return of Daniel Craig as Blanc and a new cast, including Kate Hudson, Edward Norton, Dave Bautista, Janelle Monáe, Jessica Henwick, Kathryn Hahn, Madelyn Cline, and Leslie Odom Jr., among others.

The newly released murder mystery takes place in Greece, where billionaire Miles Bron (Edward Norton) invites his friends to partake in his yearly hosted murder mystery game, though, in classic Knives Out fashion, nothing is ever quite as it seems. The film currently has a 93 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes, showcasing another successful creation from the talented Johnson.
