Emily in Paris season 3 is streaming now on Netflix and is a true delight for fans looking for a run and light-hearted new series to enjoy this holiday season.

Season 3 of Netflix’s Emmy-nominated comedy just might be the show’s best season yet as Emily and her friends continue to navigate life in the City of Light. Once again this season, we see our favorite characters struggling to strike the perfect balance between their work and personal lives, which more often than not have a way of becoming intertwined.

This season also tests loyalties in new ways, primarily via the fallout that comes from the events of the season 2 finale in which Sylvie, Luc, and Julian leave Savior in order to start their own marketing firm. Warning, this is where we start to wade into spoilers from the season.

At the top of the season, Emily is walking a very fine line as we learn she’s essentially living a double life. While she’s followed Sylvie and the team to their startup, she hasn’t yet officially told Madeline about her decision to leave Savior where she’s still technically working.

In the season premiere, Emily receives an unexpected call from her ex-boyfriend Doug, who has just landed the job of Associate Manager of Global Partnerships for McDonald’s. So why is he calling Emily after all this time to give her this news? Well, as it turns out McDonald’s is looking for a marketing agency in France to launch a new menu offering: the McBaguette.

The idea of the McBaguette definitely sounds intriguing, but is the sandwich a real offering at McDonald’s, or was it made up simply for the show?

Is the McBaguette real?

In the Emily in Paris season 3 premiere, the show introduces the McBaguette as a new sandwich McDonald’s is looking to add to the menu in France. This leads Emily and the team to come up with a creative way to market the product to consumers as part of a storyline that unfolds within the episode. While it might seem like a work of fiction created for the purpose of the show in using a notable American brand via some not-so-subtle product placement, the McBaguette is a real sandwich that can be purchased from McDonald’s restaurants in France.

The McBaguette was added to the McDonald’s menu in 1,228 restaurants across the country on April 18, 2012, as what was at first a limited-edition promotion that lasted six weeks. It has since become a staple in the country, returning to the menu annually for a limited time each year.

What is a McBaguette?

The McBaguette is a limited-edition sandwich offered at McDonald’s restaurants in France. When it first debuted on the menu back in 2012, the sandwich was only available in a beef option but a chicken option has since been added to the menu as well.

The McBaguette is comprised of your choice of two McDonald’s burger patties or two McDonald’s chicken tender pieces, lettuce, local Swiss cheese, and mustard sauce sandwiched between a baguette, supplied by French suppliers and baked in stone ovens to achieve a crisp crust.
