Though Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery brings back Daniel Craig as Benoit Blanc, he’s supported by a new cast of characters. Rian Johnson’s Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery brings together a stellar cast of characters for the second installment of the murder mystery series.

Knives Out (2019) told the story of Harlan Thrombey’s death. A famous pulp mystery fiction writer with a colorful family, Thrombey (Christopher Plummer) seemingly commits suicide after his nurse Marta Cabrera (Ana de Armas) accidentally injects the incorrect drug.

Private detective Benoit Blanc (Daniel Craig) investigates the matter and interviews witnesses at the Thrombey household but remains skeptical of Thrombey’s daughter (Jamie Lee Curtis), her husband (Don Johnson), son (Michael Shannon), and grandson (Chris Evans).

Knives Out received widespread praise (97 percent on Rotten Tomatoes) and became a box office smash, earning more than $300 million. This success prompted Johnson’s decision to turn Knives Out into a murder mystery series.

Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery cast

Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery received a limited theater release in November but heads to Netflix on December 23. While the film brings back Daniel Craig as Benoit Blanc, it introduces the audience to a new host of characters.

Much like Agatha Christie’s Hercule Poirot, Blanc becomes the central recurring character in what will become a series of murder mysteries.

In Glass Onion, billionaire Miles Bron (Edward Norton) invites guests to his Greek Island, including Helen Brand (Janelle Monáe), the sister of murdered executive Andi Brand (also Janelle Monáe). Other notable additions to the cast include Kathryn Hahn playing Claire Debella, governor of Connecticut; Leslie Odom Jr. as Lionel Toussaint, an employee of Bron’s firm; Kate Hudson as Birdie Jay, a fashion designer and model; and Dave Bautista as Duke Cody, a Twitch streamer.

This second Knives Out film brings together another stellar ensemble cast, which will surely make for must-watch material over the holidays.
