Sex Education S4 /

2022 was another great year for Netflix, and we’re so excited for all that is to come in 2023. We’ve already learned about many new and returning Netflix shows slated to arrive in 2023. However, some of those returning Netflix shows will be coming to an end this year. If you’re curious to know which shows will be concluding in 2023, all you have to do is continue reading.

We’ve already seen the return of popular shows such as The WitcherShadow and BoneOuter Banks, and many others. In addition, some of the new Netflix shows to come out were Lockwood & CoQueen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story, That ’90s Show, The Night Agent and more.

Although we’re over the moon to see all of our favorite shows return, we can’t help but feel saddened that it will be the last time we see some of them on our screens. Many of the shows we’re about to list have gone on for quite some time, and we’ve faithfully watched every season that’s been released. It definitely won’t be easy to say goodbye, but we’re keeping our fingers crossed that each show ends on a high note. However, we’re just glad we get to see our favorite shows get series’ conclusions.

Netflix shows ending in 2023

Not all of the returning Netflix shows listed below have official release dates yet, but they’re either confirmed or expected to come out in 2023. To kick off the list, we decided to start with one of the best teen shows currently streaming, Sex Education.

Sex Education

I think we all saw it coming, Netflix Lifers. After hearing about multiple cast departures, and seeing one of the show’s leading stars post what seemed like a farewell message to his character on his Instagram, we had an inkling that Sex Education would be coming to an end soon. And sadly, the popular teen series has been confirmed to be ending with its upcoming fourth season scheduled to be released on Sept. 21, 2023.

On July 5, series creator Laurie Nunn wrote in a heartfelt letter to fans that the teen show would be ending with its fourth season. That same day, Netflix dropped an official teaser for Sex Education season 4, and within the teaser, there’s a mention of the fourth season being the final season. Although we hate to see the teen series come to a close, we’re excited to see how everything wraps up.

The returning cast is made up of Asa Butterfield (Otis), Gillian Anderson (Jean), Ncuti Gatwa (Eric), Aimee-Lou Wood (Aimee), Emma Mackey (Maeve), Connor Swindells (Adam), Kedar Williams-Stirling (Jackson), Mimi Keene (Ruby), George Robinson (Isaac), Chinenye Ezeudu (Vivienne), Dua Saleh (Cal), Alistair Petrie (Michael), and Samantha Spiro (Maureen).

Schitt’s Creek‘s Dan Levy joins the fourth season’s cast as Maeve’s college tutor Mr. Molloy. Thaddea Graham, Marie Reuther, Eshaan Akbar, Felix Mufti, Anthony Lexa, Alexandra James, Reda Elazouar, Bella Maclean, Lisa McGrillis, Jodie Turner-Smith, and Imani Yahshua also join the cast this season.

Here’s the official synopsis for the fourth season via Netflix:

"“Following the closure of Moordale Secondary, Otis and Eric now face a new frontier — their first day at Cavendish Sixth Form College. Otis is nervous about setting up his new clinic, while Eric is praying they won’t be losers again. But Cavendish is a culture shock for all the Moordale students — they thought they were progressive but this new college is another level. There’s daily yoga in the communal garden, a strong sustainability vibe and a group of kids who are popular for being … kind?! Viv is totally thrown by the college’s student-led, non-competitive approach, while Jackson is still struggling to get over Cal. Aimee tries something new by taking an Art A Level and Adam grapples with whether mainstream education is for him. Over in the U.S., Maeve is living her dream at prestigious Wallace University, being taught by cult author Thomas Molloy. Otis is pining after her, while adjusting to not being an only child at home, or the only therapist on campus.”"

So, mark your calendar and clear your schedule because Sex Education season 4 will land on Netflix on Thursday, Sept. 21, 2023!
