5 good Netflix shows this weekend: Firefly Lane and The Texas Killing Fields

December is here, so it is time to watch those new and old holiday favorites. Netflix has a great lineup of holiday features and shows, but never fret if that isn’t your thing; the streamer has plenty of other genres to keep you entertained. Be sure to check out the new seasons of The Crown and Firefly Lane, and don’t miss the new original series Wednesday and several other recommendations below.
This week’s popular series include Dead to Me, 1899, Love Island, Manifest, and Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure. Movies topping the Netflix charts include Troll, The Noel Diary, My Name is Vendetta, Lady Chatterley’s Lover, and Slumberland.

Let’s look at some great Netflix shows worthy of a weekend binge.
Firefly Lane season 2 part 1
Part 1 of the second and final season of Firefly Lane has been released on Netflix. The first eight episodes will begin the end for Tully and Kate, with the final eight episodes coming in 2023.
The series follows best friends Tully (Katherine Heigl) and Kate (Sarah Chalke) from their teenage lives in the 1970s to adulthood in the early 2000s. Based on a novel by Kristin Hannah, this is a heartwarming tale of best friends who navigate life together while experiencing dramatically different events.
Crime Scene: The Texas Killing Fields
The third installment of Joe Berlinger’s Crime Scene series, Crime Scene: The Texas Killing Fields, is now available to stream.
The third season of this documentary takes viewers to the Texas Killing Fields, a location in which many missing girls have turned up dead. Just off the patch of highway connecting Houston and Galveston is Calder Road, where the bodies of three young girls were found in the 1980s and a fourth in the 1990s. All of the murders remain unsolved, and one father refuses to give up the fight for justice for his murdered daughter and others like her.
Snack vs Chef season 1
Eight episodes of the reality cooking show Snack vs Chef has been released. This reality series pits 12 chefs against each other as they use classic snacks as inspiration to reinvent the classics.
Hosted by Megan Stalter and Hari Kondabolu, this new twist on a cooking challenge will put the contestants to the test. Vying for the $50,000 prize, the chefs will attempt to make something magnificent from snack staples like Pringles, KitKat, Oreos, Hohos, and other tasty snacks.
The Unbroken Voice season 1
A new telenovela, The Unbroken Voice, recently released on Netflix. Based on the life of Colombian singer Arelys Henao, the first season of the series consists of 65 episodes, with run times between 45-52 minutes, and has already secured the number 5 spot on the US Top 10 TV Shows list.
Inspired by her early life, this series shows Henao’s rise to realize her dream of becoming a singer; this musical drama will leave you inspired. Despite several obstacles, Henao and her family focus on the positive, allowing them to overcome and see Henoa’s dream come true.
Dead End season 1
The Polish crime thriller comedy, Dead End follows a group of people who inadvertently exchange cars with a bank robber, making off with the two million zlotys (Polish currency) he has stolen. He then pursues them with the intent of retrieving the stolen money left in the trunk.
Season 1 consists of six 30-mintue episodes that is a dark comedy in which just about anything that could go wrong does.
