Move over King Kong and Godzilla, there is a new monster on the loose in Netflix’s Norwegian fantasy film Troll, arriving this December on the platform.

What happens when something dark and ancient awakens in the mountains of Dovre? As they say, every fairy tale and legend starts with a kernel of truth. When a monstrous troll terrorizes the citizens of Dovre, they have to call in all the experts to figure out what to do next before the creature kills everyone.

Earlier this year, Netflix released some images and a teaser for the new movie during Geeked Week. Based on the official trailer and promotional material, it looks like Troll had a sizable budget, so if you have a 4K-capable television, this is the type of movie you’ll want to watch on it.

Troll should be on your list if you’re a fan of the Legendary MonsterVerse and movies like Pacific Rim. It looks like an entertaining creature feature that could start a new franchise.

What is Troll on Netflix about?

After lying dormant for over a thousand years, an explosion in the Norwegian mountains awakens an ancient troll. Directed by Tomb Raider‘s Roar Uthaug, Troll is an exciting new monster movie starring Ine Marie Wilmann as paleontologist Nora Tidemann.

Kim S. Falck-Jørgensen, Mads Sjøgård Pettersen, and Gard B. Eidsvold also star.

"When an explosion in the Norwegian mountains awakens an ancient troll, officials appoint a fearless paleontologist to stop it from wreaking deadly havoc. This fantasy-action film stars Ine Marie Wilmann (“War Sailor”) and was directed by Roar Uthaug (“Tomb Raider” and “The Wave”)."
