Virgin River season 5 latest updates (December 2022)

One of the most highly anticipated Netflix shows has to be Virgin River season 5. The romantic drama series released its blockbuster fourth season in July 2022, and fans can’t seem to get enough of the small town with lots of drama going into season 5.

In the fourth season, Mel and Jack walked the complicated path to parenthood, with the question of the baby’s paternity hanging over their heads. All the while, Charmaine’s pregnancy with Jack’s twins continues to throw a wrench in their plans. Let’s just say things get messy!

When Virgin River season 4 was released in summer 2022, the cast and crew were just getting back together to start filming the fifth season. During production, they celebrated their milestone 50th episode, the halfway point to 100 episodes.

Unfortunately, we won’t be returning to Virgin River this winter on Netflix. The new season wasn’t included on the complete list of new release movies and shows coming in December 2022. But here are the latest filming update, cast additions, and release date predictions for season 5!

Virgin River season 5 latest updates December 2022

Even though Virgin River season 5 won’t be released on Netflix in time for the holidays in 2022, there’s great news to share with fans. Production officially wrapped on the new season, as announced by the Virgin River Instagram page on Nov. 21.

While some fans will hope that this means the new season will arrive on our watch lists sooner than summer 2023, that might not be the case. Post-production on Netflix series like Virgin River can take up to six months. Virgin River season 4 wrapped around the holiday season in 2021 and still premiered in July 2022. We still have some waiting to do for season 5.

What’s on Netflix also reports that three additional cast members have been added to Virgin River season 5. Susan Hogan, Elise Gatien, and Paolo Maiolo will each make their Virgin River debuts in the new season, though details on their roles haven’t been shared by Netflix. We can’t wait to see what’s in store for these new characters and, of course, all of our favorites.
