Animated shows might not be for everyone, but you cannot deny the critical acclaim Star Wars: The Clone Wars garnered over its seven seasons. Pre-Disney+ years, the show debuted on Cartoon Network in 2008, starting with a full-length movie before the first season. Despite its success on Cartoon Network, Lucasfilm announced they would be scrapping the series in 2013 after the fifth season. Fortunately for fans of the show, it was announced about a year later that Netflix would nab the streaming rights, in addition to releasing a sixth season.

The Netflix season was meant to give a proper ending to the beloved series, and the streamer was certainly right to try and do so. Sadly, The Clone Wars is no longer streaming on Netflix because it’s all on Disney+ now, but it was awesome for them to save the show nonetheless. With a shorter season of 13 episodes, however, fans asked for more.

In 2018, Lucasfilm announced they would be bringing The Clone Wars back for another installment, this time called “The Final Season.” It was released on Disney+ in 2020 and is believed to be the actual end of the animated show. We’ll see if Disney decides to revisit it at some point in the future.

You on Netflix

You starring Penn Badgley is without a doubt one of the most popular shows on Netflix, but it didn’t start off on the streamer! The premiere season debuted in 2018 on Lifetime, of all places, but they decided not to continue with the thriller. According to Vulture, the network actually ordered a second season but then scrapped it because of low ratings. By the end of 2018, it was announced Netflix would be swooping in to save the show.

You has run for three seasons now with the fourth coming out in two parts in early 2023. Viewers have been absolutely hooked on the show ever since it was first released on Netflix, with many applauding Badgley’s performance as serial killer Joe Goldberg. You season 3 dominated the platform when it was released in 2021 and saw an impressive 2.254 billion minutes streamed in its first week. The fourth season was renewed before the third installment even came out.

Needless to say, saving You was an extremely smart move for Netflix.
