Elite season 6 is available to stream on Netflix! As expected, this season is just as entertaining as previous seasons, with an exciting storyline filled with drama, twists, and mystery. But unfortunately, we did not see the return of several original cast members. One of those cast members was Itzan Escamilla, who played Samuel in the teen series.

But Escamilla wasn’t the only actor who did not reprise his role in Elite season 6. Omar Ayuso (Omar), Claudia Salas (Rebeka), and Georgina Amorós (Cayetana) were noticeably missing from the sixth season as well.

Now, we can understand why Amorós didn’t return for season 6 since her character gets fired from Las Encinas after she’s caught sneaking into Benjamín’s office in season 5. However, Salas and Ayuso’s exit was somewhat surprising. But I’m guessing their exit connects to Escamilla’s.

So, why isn’t Samuel in Elite season 6? Find out below.

Why isn’t Samuel in Elite season 6?

First, we have to rewind to what happens to Samuel in the season 5 finale. If you recall, Samuel’s fate is left up in the air at the end of the season because he severely injures himself during a tussle with Benjamín by the pool. He accidentally slips and hits his head on the concrete before falling into the pool. Benjamín and Patrick eventually pull him out of the pool, and he regains consciousness for a while to tell Rebeka and Omar that Benjamín is responsible, but then he closes his eyes. Although an ambulance pulls up, we never see them take Samuel away in a body bag. We don’t even see a funeral. So, it was unclear whether or not Samuel was still alive. That was until Netflix released the Elite season 6 synopsis.

Back in September, Netflix released the official synopsis for the sixth season, which revealed Samuel’s fate. It pretty much revealed that Samuel succumbed to his injuries and died, so he wouldn’t be in the new season. The synopsis reads, “After Samuel’s death, Las Encinas faces a new school year trying to have a facelift by covering up disasters of the past. However, the conflict in its classrooms is systemic: racism, sexism, domestic abuse or LGTBI-phobia are just a few of the difficult issues that will run through the hallways of the prestigious institution this season. If those who run the system do not actively take action to address these issues, it will have to be the students themselves who do so.”

So, why weren’t Rebeka and Omar in the sixth season? They were Samuel’s closest friends, so after seeing him die, they probably wanted nothing to do with Las Encinas and the students anymore. That’s our guess. However, the real reason is unknown.
