Who dies in Dead to Me season 3? (spoilers)

After a two-year wait, Dead to Me season 3 has finally arrived on Netflix to answer all of our burning questions. Jen (Christina Applegate) and Judy (Linda Cardellini) have one last ride to clear their names, but that won’t be as easy as you’d imagine.

In the Dead to Me season 3 premiere, the best friends spend some time in the hospital following their hit-and-run car accident. Their stay in the hospital leaves them with some shocking revelations, and that news colors the tone of the whole season.

Who dies in Dead to Me season 3?

The first person to die in Dead to Me season 3 is Judy’s chemotherapy nurse, Francine. Throughout Judy’s treatment, she grew close to Francine. But on her last day of chemotherapy, Judy learns that Francine died suddenly of a heart attack.

After Francine’s death, Judy feels shock and pangs of guilt. Francine had spent so much of her time helping Judy to recover from her stage 4 ovarian cancer, but she unexpectedly passed away. The time Judy spent with Francine was nonetheless special and formative.

Does Judy die in Dead to Me season 3?

Devastatingly, yes: Judy dies in Dead to Me season 3. Judy’s actual death happens off-camera and is implied. Jen wakes up on her final morning in Mexico to find Judy isn’t in the bed beside her. She looks out the window and sees a boat out in the ocean.

Jen says her final goodbyes to Judy on the beach and then again while driving the Mustang that belonged to Judy and Steve — the car that killed Jen’s husband. Everything comes full circle for the best friends in a very poetic, poignant, and soul-crushing way.

Who killed Glenn Moranis in Dead to Me season 3?

The third, and perhaps the most shocking, death of the season is none other than Agent Glenn Moranis (Garret Dillahunt), the FBI agent tasked with finding Steve’s killer. He’s discovered dead in his hotel room, which has been ransacked. A half-eaten scone from Jen remains on his bedside table.

Jen had previously joked to Judy about killing Moranis via poisoned scones, and she does have a meeting with him (to falsely claim she was sleeping with Steve and implicate the Greeks in Steve’s murder) and gift him with a container of homemade scones.

While it’s never confirmed who exactly killed Moranis, it’s implied that either a deadly scone or the Greeks (mostly likely the Greek syndicate) could have been the culprit. In the end, the killer isn’t important, and one last enduring murder mystery for the series keeps viewers guessing.
