Christmas might be a time for baked goods, shimmering lights, and festive cheer, but some of us like to carry the Halloween spirit through the holidays with classic Christmas horror movies like Black Christmas and Krampus.

Given the variety of horror movies on Netflix, it’s easy to see why horror fans would turn to the streaming service to check out the Christmas horror movie selection. Unfortunately, it’s slim pickings on Netflix for those looking to get spooked by Santa Claus and co. this year.

Christmas horror movies on Netflix

Currently, there are only two Christmas horror offerings on Netflix. One is a Polish film, and the other is a Danish fantasy series.

All My Friends Are Dead

Technically this movie doesn’t even take place at Christmas, but it is set during a New Year’s Eve party with all the Christmas decorations still up (and some even involved in the horror), so I thought it was okay to include it.

This Polish horror-comedy film follows a group of friends ringing in the New Year during a wild party that reveals all sorts of secrets and heartbreak, leading to a shocking conclusion.

Elves

Elves is a Danish horror-fantasy series about a family vacationing on an island secretly overrun with a population of ancient elves that begin terrorizing the family, turning their holly-jolly getaway into a nightmare.

Where to watch more Christmas horror movies

I’m guessing that Netflix has so few offerings because other streaming services like Shudder have already swooped in and snapped up most of the good stuff.

Here’s a short list of Christmas horror movie recommendations and where you can watch them:

  • Black Christmas (1974) – Peacock, Tubi, Shudder
  • Black Christmas (2006) – Freevee, Hulu, Starz
  • Krampus (2015) – Peacock
  • Anna and the Apocalypse (2018) – Shudder, Tubi
  • Gremlins (1984) – HBO Max, Peacock
  • The Lodge (2020) – Hulu
