Sylvester Stallone and Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan teamed up for the crime drama series Tulsa King. Given the pedigree, you can bet the series boasts a slick story and excellent writing, especially with Boardwalk Empire's Terence Winter serving as showrunner. With a second season in the works, people are still wondering where they can watch this show and whether it's available on Netflix.

Tulsa King is streaming on Paramount+

The first season of Tulsa King, consisting of nine episodes, released across several weeks, starting in November 2022 and ending in January 2023. Reports suggest that season 2 will begin filming sometime this year and likely release in the first half of 2025.

For now, you'll have to watch the series on Paramount+, as it's not streaming on Netflix. But Paramount+ has licensed some of its originals to Netflix in the past, most recently with School Spirits and the film Queenpins, so it's possible that the Stallone-led show could eventually come to Netflix.

If you'd rather purchase Tulsa King season 1 to own, you can buy the season in HD or SD (SD is a few dollars cheaper) from Amazon, Apple TV, or Vudu. The following prices are for buying the HD versions digitally.

  • Amazon: $20.09 for season 1 ($2.99 per episode)
  • Apple: $19.99 for season 1 ($2.99 per episode)
  • Vudu: $19.99 for season ($2.99 per episode)

Personally, I would recommend just signing up for a Paramount+ subscription, as it's cheaper, especially if you just want to watch the season through one time or sample it to see if it's even something you'll be interested in. As of right now, there has been no physical release for Tulsa King.

Tulsa King will make its CBS premiere this summer

Here's some good news for people who don't want to add another streaming service to their roster. Deadline reports that CBS will be airing the first season of Tulsa King on its network this summer. It makes perfect sense for the network to give this one a linear airing since they did the same thing with Sheridan's other hit series Yellowstone, which had a very successful run on CBS despite originating on streaming.

Paramount Global, the parent company of CBS and MTV Entertainment Studios, has been seeking new ways to entice viewers to its platform and trying to capture the viewers who still watch television the traditional way is one method of doing just that.

Here's what Paramount Global CEO Bob Bakish had to say about the decision.

"We’re going to run the first season of Tulsa on CBS prior to the 2nd season of Tulsa dropping on Paramount+, really using it as a broad marketing engine. As you know, we did a variant of that idea on Yellowstone and we really saw a continued broadening of the audience, so we think that’s a real opportunity for Tulsa as well, given Stallone etc. So we also think it’s attractive from an economic perspective."

No word on when the series will start airing on CBS just yet, but I'm assuming probably late June or July.

Keep in mind that Tulsa King is a TV-MA show and while the creators have free reign to do what they want on streaming, the episodes will be cut to maintain broadcast standards when the series premieres on Tulsa King. The same thing happened with Yellowstone.

It means certain scenes of violence and sexual content will likely be edited down and some language might be censored or removed. If you want to watch the episodes in their original form, you'll need to get Paramount+.

What is Tulsa King about?

Considering Paramount+ is one of the lesser known streaming services, you'd be forgiven for not knowing much about the Sylvester Stallone series. Stallone plays a Mafia capo who has just finished serving a 25-year stint in prison. Now that he's back on the streets, his boss wants him in Tulsa, Oklahoma to establish a new branch of their criminal empire.

Apart from Stallone, the series also stars Andrea Savage, Martin Starr, Jay Will, Max Casella, Domenick Lombardozzi, Vincent Piazza, A.C. Peterson, Garrett Hedlund, and Dana Delany.
