Is Spirited on Netflix?
By D.J. Rivera
The holiday movie starring Ryan Reynolds and Will Ferrell puts a fascinating spin on a familiar Christmas tale to bring the audience the exciting motion picture Spirited. But can Netflix subscribers enjoy the unique, yuletide experience?
The Christmas Carol is undoubtedly a timeless classic that has been rebooted and retold in several different ways. Whether it’s the Muppets playing the narrative’s personas or Patrick Stewart taking on the role of Ebenezer Scrooge, there is no shortage of intriguing takes on the Charles Dickens novella published in 1843.
But Spirited looks to go in a different direction by telling the infamous story from the perspective of the ghosts. The musical noel-themed flick follows Clint Briggs, played by Reynolds, who is the Ebenezer Scrooge-type Will Ferrell’s Ghost of Christmas Present is attempting to reform. Briggs, however, changes things up, causing Ferrell’s character to reflect on his own past and contemplate what’s on the horizon.
The 127-minute feature also stars Octavia Spencer, Sunita Mani, and Patrick Page. Sean Anders, whose credits include directing the Daddy’s Home films and Instant Family, is sitting in the director’s chair for Spirited.
Is Spirited available on Netflix?
While it would most assuredly be a holiday treat to watch the delightful motion picture in its entirety as a member of the popular streaming service, that won’t be happening for any subscriber. Spirited is not available on Netflix, and it seems unclear if that could ever change.
But there are plenty of holiday-themed features ready to enjoy right now on Netflix. Some of the stellar choices available now include titles such as The Christmas Chronicles, Let It Snow, Love Hard, and Holidate, just to name a few.
