As you are aware, every two seasons of The Crown brings a brand-new cast of talented actors and actresses.

Seasons 1 and 2 of the beloved Netflix original series starred Claire Foy and Matt Smith in the roles of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, respectively, while seasons 3 and 4 gave us the ever-talented Olivia Colman and Tobias Menzies to play the roles of the same aforementioned historical figures.

Needless to say, the same happened with most characters in the series when the time came. Helena Bonham Carter soon replaced Vanessa Kirby as Princess Margaret, Josh O’Connor took over Billy Jenkins’ role of Prince Charles, Marion Bailey took the reins from Victoria Hamilton as Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother, and so on. Therefore, as you might have guessed, the pattern continues for the new season.

Without further ado, here’s the new cast of The Crown season 5!

The Crown season 5 cast

Playing the role of Queen Elizabeth II in season 5 is none other than Imelda Staunton, an actress who you may know from Harry Potter and the Order of the PhoenixA Confession, and many more of your favorite titles.

Alongside Staunton is Jonathan Pryce, who will be playing the role of Prince Philip. Pryce has starred in the likes of Game of Thrones and The Two Popes, so he’s sure to be a perfect fit for his latest role.

In addition to Imelda Staunton and Jonathan Pryce, the main cast of The Crown season 5 includes:

  • Elizabeth Debicki as Princess Diana
  • Dominic West as Prince Charles
  • Olivia Williams as Camilla Parker Bowles
  • Senan West as Prince William
  • Lesley Manville as Princess Margaret
  • Marcia Warren as Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother
