Theo James to star in The Gentlemen TV show based on Guy Ritchie’s film

Castlevania voice actor Theo James is set to star in The Gentlemen, an upcoming Netflix original series inspired by Guy Ritchie’s 2019 film.
Deadline reports that while the series is based on the Ritchie title, the series will be its own standalone project, meaning that Charlie Hunnam, Jeremy Strong, Matthew McConaughey, and many more stars from the 2019 film aren’t expected to be featured in the series alongside him. Instead, the series will have unique aspects that are sure to pique your interest.
Here’s what you can expect from Netflix’s The Gentlemen.
What is The Gentlemen about?
Overall, the plot of Netflix’s The Gentlemen will be similar to Guy Ritchie’s film, the media outlet states. However, rather than the series following Michael “Mickey” Pearson’s (Matthew McConaughey) journey to the top of the drug market food chain, it will, instead, follow Theo James’ character, Eddie Halstead.
“[Eddie] has inherited his father’s sizeable estate only to discover that it’s sitting on top of a weed empire owned by the legendary Mickey Pearson,” Deadline’s synopsis reads. “Has this straight-up soldier got what it takes to master the dark arts of the British criminal underworld and take control of the entire operation?”
The Netflix series will be executively produced, co-written, and directed by Guy Ritchie, who is also working with Ivan Atkinson, Bill Block, Marn Davies, and Peaky Blinders‘ Matthew Read to bring the reimagining to life.
As of today, an official release date for the title has yet to be confirmed, as production is set to commence shortly. However, we wouldn’t put it past Ritchie and his incredible team to release The Gentlemen as early as 2023. But, of course, take this release date prediction with a grain of salt until Netflix announces the release date, trailer, and full cast of the series.
While you wait for The Gentlemen to premiere on Netflix, feel free to check out Guy Ritchie’s 2019 title of the same name now streaming on the site. Also, be sure to stream other titles featuring Theo James on Netflix, such as How It Ends, Lying and Stealing, and The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf.
