When the first Enola Holmes hit Netflix, it was a huge hit, and that’s the main reason we are getting a sequel. Like the first film, Enola Holmes 2 is based on the series of the same name by Nancy Springer.

The first film was based on The Case of the Missing Marquess, and this sequel is loosely based on the second book in the series, The Case of the Left-Handed Lady. It began filming in October 2021 and officially wrapped in January 2022.

While the story will be different, much of the cast remains the same. Millie Bobby Brown is back as Enola Holmes, Henry Cavill returns as Sherlock Holmes, Helena Bonham Carter is once again Eudoria Holmes, and Louis Patridge returns as Enola’s friend and love interest, Tewkesbury.

Enola’s friend Edith played by Susan Wokoma will also be returning, as will Adeel Akhtar as Detective Lestrade.

David Thewlis, Hannah Dodd, and Sharon Duncan-Brewster are new additions to the cast.

What is Enola Holmes 2 about?

Enola Holmes 2 has our cunning Enola starting her career as a detective-for-hire. Unfortunately, business as a detective when you’re a young girl in 19th-century England isn’t the best. Most people rather talk to her brother, Sherlock.

But just when she’s about to give up, her first case appears and has her looking for a missing girl. A girl arrives looking for her older sister. They both worked at a matchstick factory, and she hasn’t been able to find her sister anywhere.

As Enola searches for the girl, she soon discovers that much more is going on than she could have imagined. And her case just might be connected with her brother’s. And you know what that means. She will have to work with him, which is great for us, but awful for her (in her opinion).

Take a look at the trailer for the new film here:

The official synopsis for the film gives another look at what’s in store:

"Now a detective-for-hire like her infamous brother, Enola Holmes takes on her first official case to find a missing girl, as the sparks of a dangerous conspiracy ignite a mystery that requires the help of friends — and Sherlock himself — to unravel."
