Calling all teen drama fans. We hate to be the bearer of bad news, but it’s just been announced that Netflix has canceled Fate: The Winx Saga. The fantasy series was two seasons deep, with the second installment coming out on Sept. 16, 2022.

Showrunner Brian Young took to Instagram on Nov. 1, according to TVLine, to share the unfortunate news. According to him, this decision was made by Netflix, and he calls the cancellation “especially tough” because of how passionate the fanbase has been.

Fans flocked to Young’s comments section to share their reactions to the cancellation, with one person calling it “heartbreaking.”

Fate: The Winx Saga is based on the animated series Winx Club on Nickelodeon, following a student named Bloom (Abigail Cowen) who discovers she has special powers in the first season which leads her to enroll in a school for magic in the Otherworld called Alfea. Throughout the two seasons, Bloom forms close friendships with her suitemates and a romance with her classmate named Sky (Danny Griffin). She works with the supporting characters to keep the peace in the Otherworld while other supernatural forces try to bring destruction.

At this time, the exact reason for the cancellation has not been shared. Though the series isn’t one of Netflix’s more critically acclaimed titles, it does have a strong following and the second season was even regarded as an improvement from the first.
