The Good Nurse true story: Where is Amy Loughren now?

Based on a true story, The Good Nurse stars Jessica Chastain and Eddie Redmayne as two nurses named Amy Loughren and Charles Cullen who forge a close bond while working together during the night shifts in the intensive care unit at a hospital in New Jersey. However, Charles turns out to be involved in the mysterious deaths of many hospital patients and has gotten away with the crimes for many years. Once Amy learns of his heinous crimes, she decides to work with the authorities to take him down.

While waiting for the upcoming Netflix movie to premiere, you’ve probably been researching all there is to know about it. Tobias Lindholm directed the film from a screenplay written by Krysty Wilson-Cairns. It’s based on true events and is inspired by the 2013 book The Good Nurse: A True Story of Medicine, Madness, and Murder by Charles Graeber. It tells the chilling true story of single mother and caring nurse Amy Loughren, who after learning of her new friend and co-worker’s involvement in the mysterious deaths of patients (Charles Cullen), helps the police get enough evidence to arrest him.

In December 2003, Amy met up with Charles at a restaurant to attempt to extract a confession from him while secretly recording their conversation. Based on the recorded conversation, there was enough evidence for probable cause of arrest, and Charles was taken to the police station. After his arrest, Charles eventually admitted to the crimes he committed and was convicted of 29 murders and sentenced to 11 consecutive life sentences in 2006. However, he’s suspected to have murdered several hundred more people. As of Oct. 25, Charles is currently serving 18 consecutive life sentences in New Jersey State prison.

Amy is alive and well! On Sept. 13 at TIFF 2022, the cast of The Good Nurse, including Amy Loughren, had a press conference. During the press conference, there were insights into how the cast got into the characters and behind-the-scenes scoop. Then, on Oct. 10, Amy and The Good Nurse cast met up again at the London Film Festival. Amy was most recently seen at the NYC premiere of The Good Nurse on Oct. 18.

Fortunately, Amy has a Twitter and Instagram account, so if you want to keep up with her, following her on her social media accounts is your best bet. She often posts photos of her daughters and grandchildren.

According to her official website, Amy has over 30 years of experience working as a Reiki Master, Hypnotherapist, NLP Practitioner, Meditation Instructor, DreamSculptor Practitioner, Reconnective Healer, Integrative Energy Healer, Past Life Regressionist, Crystal Language Reader, and a Medical Intuitive. She aims to “help others develop a unique guidance plan for deeper connections.” She’s also believed to be living in Deland, Florida, according to her Twitter bio.
