The fifth film in the popular found-footage horror anthology franchise V/H/S is on its way this week, just in time for Halloween! V/H/S/99 is the latest in the film series and will be released on Friday, October 20, exclusively on Shudder.

Set in 1999, V/H/S/99 features five narratives, but unlike previous films, there isn’t an overarching story framework piecing each segment together. Instead, the five parts are broken up with interludes featuring the stop-motion animation of toy soldiers known as the “Gawkers.”

Horror directors and writers tapped to create shorts for this film include Maggie Levin, Johannes Roberts, Flying Lotus, Zoe Cooper, Tyler MacIntyre, and Joseph and Vanessa Winter.

If you love watching scary movies or you’re looking for something frightening for Halloween, then V/H/S/99 is an excellent selection. The film is receiving mostly positive reviews from critics.

Is V/H/S/99 on Netflix?

Unfortunately, none of the V/H/S movies are streaming on Netflix, but if you are a fan of found-footage horror, then I suggest checking out the Creep movies or Unfriended, which are available to watch on Netflix right now. The 2016 Blair Witch remake is also available, although I don’t think it’s nearly as good as the original.

Where to watch V/H/S/99

V/H/S/99 will be released exclusively on Shudder starting on October 20. It will be available in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, and New Zealand. You will need to pay for a Shudder subscription (or get a free trial) to watch the movie.

For anyone interested in revisiting the other four films in the franchise, the first three are currently streaming on Hulu, while the fourth film, V/H/S/94, is also on Shudder.
