Another installment of Unsolved Mysteries on Netflix is underway, with the first three episodes of volume 3 debuting on Tuesday, Oct. 18. The popular series was rebooted for the streamer back in 2020 and just like the original, the new version has delivered so many intriguing and creepy stories. Of course, all of the stories explored in each volume are cold cases, meaning we don’t get the answers we’re looking for.

But of course, that doesn’t mean the families and loved ones behind each cold case stop looking for answers once the cameras stop rolling. Fortunately, there have been several cases from Unsolved Mysteries that have been solved, and we’re hoping that trend continues.

What happened to Tiffany Valiante?

As for Unsolved Mysteries volume 3 on Netflix, the premiere episode tells the harrowing story of an 18-year-old named Tiffany Valiante from New Jersey. After she disappeared from her family’s home one night in 2015, her loved ones were shocked to hear she was struck down by a train and killed. What was even more surprising to them, however, was the fact that her death was quickly ruled a suicide.

Tiffany’s parents and her other relatives did not believe she would take her own life, and other details about the events leading up to her death suggested, to them, that she might’ve been kidnapped or was running away from someone. Unfortunately, the episode ends with the family still searching for closure.

Tiffany Valiante case updates

At this time, no other major developments have been made in Tiffany’s family’s fight, however, a new report proves they are not giving up and are still trying to piece together what happened that tragic night. According to the New Jersey Patch, Tiffany’s parents Stephen and Dianne Valiante have recently doubled the award for information about her death to $40,000.

Just last week, the family’s attorney Paul D’Amato released the following statement from Stephen and Dianne:

"“We know every day Tiffany is looking down on us, giving us the strength to help find those who snatched her and were responsible for her death just before she was to start her incrediblypromising college career. We know so many others that also believe Tiffany’s death was not suicide, that there was a rush to judgement to close the case, and that the real story of how and why she died has yet to be told. The combination of this new, deeply-researched, fact-based program, and the increased reward, might just be what’s necessary to help get Tiff’s case reopened.”"

Because of the new episode in Unsolved Mysteries volume 3, Tiffany’s family is hopeful they will get to the bottom of it. Earlier this year, as reported by the New Jersey Patch, D’Amato talked about how bad a job NJ Transit did in the original investigation, saying:

"“Due to compromised or lost evidence, which included a bloody axe found at the scene, the nationally recognized forensic DNA lab’s report was incomplete and inconclusive. I share the parents’ belief that there are those who know what really happened to cause Tiff’s death, but they’ve yet to come forward.”"

We’re very hopeful that as people watch the new episode, “Mystery at Mile Marker 45,” some come forward to share what they might know about Tiffany’s death.
