The Watcher season 2 updates: Will there be a second season on Netflix?
Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan’s latest Netflix series The Watcher is now streaming. Most people have already made their way through the seven-part season and are wondering if there will be a second installment. Fortunately, you have us to share all there is to know about a potential The Watcher season 2.
The Watcher is a Netflix original series based on the true story of the Broaddus family. For the series, the family’s name was changed and some of the events that happened didn’t actually happen in real life.
The show follows the Brannocks, a family of four who begins to receive mysterious letters from someone calling themselves “The Watcher” after moving into what was supposed to be their dream home.
Naomi Watts and Bobby Cannavale star in the leading roles of Nora and Dean Brannock. More of the cast includes Jennifer Coolidge, Noma Dumezweni, Mia Farrow, Margo Martindale, Henry Hunter Hall, Richard Kind, and Isabel Gravitt.
Is The Watcher season 2 happening?
On Nov. 7, Netflix made the unexpected announcement that The Watcher had been renewed for season 2. Previously, we had assumed The Watcher season 2 would most likely not happen because Netflix labeled it as a limited series. A limited series typically consists of one season, and a complete story is told within that season.
If you watched The Watcher from beginning to end, you’d know that the story pretty much wraps up in the final episode. So, it’s unclear what the second season could have in store for viewers, whether it will continue to follow the Brannock family or center on a whole new story altogether. However, it’s not shocking that Netflix would want more of the series, since in its first two weeks, The Watcher grabbed over 273 million hours watched.
While waiting for The Watcher season 2, you can check out some similar shows on Netflix. We recommend checking out the mystery-thriller series’ The Stranger, Stay Close, The Sinner, Behind Her Eyes, and Clickbait. You can also check out some of Ryan Murphy’s other content on Netflix, like Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, Prom, Ratched, and Hollywood.
If none of the titles just mentioned are your cup of tea, we suggest browsing through Netflix’s mystery-thriller section yourself. I’m sure you’ll find something good to watch!
