After nearly 10 years of being away from appearing onscreen, Cameron Diaz is making a return to acting in the new Netflix film Back in Action. We’ve certainly missed the star on our screens!

The Netflix Original movie is an action-comedy. Seth Gordon, who is behind 2011 film Horrible Bosses, is directing the production from a script he wrote with Brendan O’Brien, according to Deadline. Gordon, O’Brien, Beau Bauman, Datari Turner, Mark McNair, and actor Jamie Foxx all executive produce.

Details on the new Netflix project are sparse. But there’s some information we do know. We’ve shared it all below!

Back in Action release updates

There is no official release date set yet. The film might be added to the streaming service’s catalog in late 2023 or early 2024, according to What’s On Netflix.

Back in Action filming updates

The news outlet reports the movie is in the pre-production stages, with filming most likely beginning in November 2022. The cameras will begin rolling at Netflix’s London Shepperton Studios, and additional filming potentially in Atlanta, Georgia. Time will tell where filming is set to happen.

Back in Action cast

Other than the lovely Diaz coming out of retirement, we’re also going to see Jamie Foxx starring alongside the star. This will be the third time the duo works together on a project!

Their first movie together was 1999 sports drama Any Given Sunday. Then they appeared together in 2014 in the remake of Annie. The musical comedy-drama was the final production Diaz appeared in before announcing her retirement in 2018.

Deadline reports two exciting cast additions to the project: Kyle Chandler and Glenn Close! The actor is best known for playing Eric Taylor in Friday Night Lights. Close has received a number of awards over her 40-year career, including three Primetime Emmy Awards.
