The Curse of Bridge Hollow parents guide: Is the film okay for kids?

We all love decorating for Halloween, whether by stringing up festive lights or carving pumpkins; it’s one of the best times of the year! The Curse of Bridge Hollow is a new quirky teen comedy film that hones in on Halloween decorations, specifically when an ancient and mischievous spirit starts bringing decor to life.

A father and his teenage daughter, played by Marlon Wayans and Priah Ferguson, must team up to stop the spirit before it’s too late and the being causes permanent damage. The film also stars other familiar faces like singer/actress Kelly Rowland, Good Girls actress Lauren Lapkus, and comedic actors like Rob Riggle and John Michael Higgins. Nia Vardalos of My Big Fat Greek Wedding Fame also stars.

Since Halloween is all about the scares and many of the best Halloween films are slashers or gory flicks featuring monsters and mayhem, it’s understandable that parents might be hesitant before letting their kids watch Netflix’s latest movie. Here’s what you need to know!

The Curse of Bridge Hollow parents guide and age rating

The Curse of Bridge Hollow has been rated TV-14 for language, so the movie might not be suitable for audiences that are 14 and under. It sounds like the rating is mostly due to some cursing used in the movie, but I can’t imagine it’s anything too serious. If your kids often watch PG-13 movies, they should be fine to watch this one since it appears to be aimed at families and younger viewers.

I certainly think if you’re watching this movie because you love Priah Ferguson as Erica Sinclair in Stranger Things, you can handle the content since The Curse of Bridge Hollow doesn’t look like it will be anywhere near as scary or violent as the other series.

In short, The Curse of Bridge Hollow is lighthearted Halloween fare akin to things like Hocus Pocus, Beetlejuice, The Mummy, and Nightbooks.
