What’s the scariest movie on Netflix in 2022?

Spooky season is here, and if you’re like me, you can’t get enough of the horror genre. Netflix has plenty of movies to choose from this Halloween season, but if you’re looking for the scariest movie on Netflix that will give chills and raise the hair on your arms, you’re in luck.

It’s always hard to label a movie the scariest of something as each horror movie presents different types of scares, whether that be supernatural, slashers, or a combination of both. It’s also a subjective topic as well as we are all scared by different things.

Netflix has presented us with some really good horror movies this year, but there’s one movie that stands out above them all that I believe is the scariest that Netflix has to offer this year.

What is the scariest movie on Netflix in 2022?

The movie that stands out to me as being the scariest on Netflix is the remake of Stephen King’s IT. It was a close decision between that and The Conjuring 2, but IT provides not only the supernatural side of things but presents the evil spirit as Pennywise himself.

As a kid, the scariest movie that frightened me most was the original IT miniseries that released in 1990. Pennywise has stuck with me throughout all of these years as being an icon in the horror genre.

In 2017, one of Stephen King’s most iconic stories was released on the big screen as IT made its debut across the globe.

What is IT about?

IT is arguably one of the best novels ever written by Stephen King, and that’s saying a lot when you take a step back and look at his catalog of stories.

The story is set in the fictional town of Derry, Maine where we see young kids battle an evil that has come to their town killing innocent kids and stalking others as well. This group of outcasted kids decide to take matter into their own hands after they grow tired of the murders that occur as well as being stalked by the evil himself, Pennywise.

One of the biggest reasons this movie is the scariest on Netflix is because of Pennywise, who is played by Bill Skarsgård. People fear and have nightmares of clowns, and I can see why after watching this movie as Skarsgård does a tremendous job playing the role of Pennywise.

Another standout in this film is the casting of these characters, particularly the kids. We see some familiar faces in this movie like Finn Wolfhard, Sophia Lillis, and Wyatt Oleff just to name a few. The connection and chemistry between the characters shines onscreen as you are immediately connected to each and every one of them as they faces the horrors in Derry.

Despite there being a lot of good horror films on Netflix, I believe that IT is the scariest of them all, and I still get goosebumps every time I watch it and I‘m sure you will too.
