5 good Netflix shows this weekend: Floor is Lava, Derry Girls and more

A new month means new releases on Netflix.  The month of October has a lot to look forward to with its Netflix and Chills releases as well as new Netflix shows. This weekend sit back and enjoy some great features like a new season of Floor is Lava and fun for the whole family with Phantom Pups and ready yourself for the third and final season of Derry Girls with a rewatch of the first two seasons.

It is no surprise that Dahmer is number one on the Netflix Top 10 TV shows list. This series has been receiving significant attention, both positive and negative. Others on this list include Dynasty, Cobra Kai, In the Dark, and Fate the Winx Saga. 

If you are in the mood for movies, on October 1, Netflix releases many great movies, including 80s favorites, National Lampoon’s Vacation, National Lampoon’s European Vacation, Risky Business, and The Color Purple. Check out the entire list for October here.

Best new Netflix shows September 24, 2022

Floor Is Lava season 3

The third season of the reality competition series Floor is Lava is now available on Netflix. This series is inspired by the children’s game of the same name. In this competition, an obstacle course is filled with 80,000 gallons of sticky red goop, the lava, which contestants must avoid.

The third season consists of five episodes which will see three teams of three contestants as they try to maneuver the course. They can win by having the highest number of survivors escaping or completing the course with the fastest time if there is a tie. Winners receive $10,000 and a trophy in the form of a lava lamp.

Derry Girls seasons 1 and 2

The third and final season of Derry Girls releases on October 7. This gives you time to rewatch or have the pleasure of watching seasons 1 and 2 for the first time.

The British teen sitcom is set in the mid-90s and follows a group of teens during the final years of what was known as the Troubles, a conflict in Northern Ireland that lasted about 30 years. The series is fictional but throws in several actual events that took place during this time. It is a hilarious look at a group of misfits attending a Catholic Secondary School and all the absurd stations they find themselves in.

Phantom Pups season 1

One of the releases for the Halloween season is Phantom Pups, a series the whole family can enjoy. This series is part of the Netflix & Chills lineup for 2022.

In Phantom, Oregon, three children try to help three ghost pups come back to life. Created by Anna McRoberts, this series follows Freddie and his family after they move into a haunted house. Freddie, his sister, and his new friend work together against some ghost hunters and a spirit dog who are after the pups.

Inside the World’s Toughest Prisons season 6

Season 6 of the docuseries Inside the World’s Toughest Prisons is now available to stream. This series features volunteers who enter the world’s most dangerous prisons as inmates.

This season will see four new prisons located in Moldova, Cyprus, Bosnia, and Greece. Viewers will see what the prisons are like on the inside from the perspective of the inmate, but it also looks at things from the guard’s perspective and others who interact within the prison system.

Conversations with a Killer: The John  Wayne Gacy Tapes limited series

The limited series Conversations with a Killer: The John  Wayne Gacy Tapes is the second installment in the Conversations with a Killer series, the first being The Ted Bundy Tapes.

Created by Joe Berlinger for Netflix, this new series, viewers will see details surrounding the serial killer John Wayne Gacy who is responsible for murderings at least 33 teenage boys and young men in Chicago between 1972-1978. This series features never before heard audio recorded during Gacy’s incarceration, interviews with people close to the cast and one of the surviving victims.
