Netflix has just announced that Elite season 6 is coming on Nov. 18. Along with the release date announcement, the streamer revealed which cast members will be returning and exiting, who will be joining the cast, and what the sixth season will be about.

Were we surprised to find out that Elite season 6 would be coming out by the end of the year? Yes, because new seasons of Elite are typically released once a year. Elite season 5 was released earlier this year, so we had thought the sixth season would be released sometime next year. We aren’t complaining, though. Two seasons in one year is a pleasant surprise, and we’re looking forward to the sixth season, especially after how things ended in the shocking season 5 finale.

Spoilers from Elite season 5 ahead!

If you recall, the fifth season ends with Samuel possibly being dead after he hits his head hard on the concrete during his tussle with Benjamin by the pool. He loses consciousness while his friends Rebe and Omar hold him. This led viewers to believe that Samuel might be dead. However, a body bag was never shown, nor was a funeral. So, there was hope that Samuel could pull through and that he’d be in Elite season 6.

Now, with the full cast list for the sixth season announced and the synopsis revealed, we have confirmation on whether or not Samuel will be in Elite season 6 and if he’s alive.

Will Samuel be in Elite season 6?

Unfortunately, Samuel will not be in the upcoming sixth season. The Netflix press release for Elite season 6 reveals Samuel’s fate in the official synopsis. According to TVLine, the synopsis reads, “After Samuel’s death, Las Encinas faces a new school year trying to have a facelift by covering up disasters of the past. However, the conflict in its classrooms is systemic: racism, sexism, domestic abuse or LGTBI-phobia are just a few of the difficult issues that will run through the hallways of the prestigious institution this season. If those who run the system do not actively take action to address these issues, it will have to be the students themselves who do so.”

Sadly, it looks like Samuel succumbed to his injuries. It’s unclear how they will address Samuel’s death in the sixth season, but we know it will affect those who were closest to him.

Who will not be in Elite season 6?

We hate to report more bad news to fans of the series, but more characters will not be returning. Omar (Omar Ayuso), Rebeka (Claudia Salas), and Cayetana (Georgina Amorós) will not be in the sixth season. They were noticeably missing from the returning cast list in the press release. Also, if you watched the release date announcement video, you’d notice that they weren’t included either.

Although it’s sad that Rebeka, Omar, and Cayetana will not be in Elite season 6, it’s not surprising at all. Their stories had pretty much wrapped up in season 5. And with Samuel gone, they probably wouldn’t want anything to do with Las Encinas and everyone else.

Who will be returning in Elite season 6?

Here’s who will be returning in the sixth season via the Netflix press release:

  • André Lamoglia as Iván
  • Valentina Zenere as Isadora
  • Carla Díaz as Ari
  • Martina Cariddi as Mencía
  • Adam Nourou as Bilal
  • Manu Ríos as Patrick

Netflix also announced who will be joining the Elite season 6 cast. Ander Puig, Carmen Arrufat, Álvaro de Juana, Ana Bokesa, and Álex Pastrana are new cast members. However, their roles are currently undisclosed.
