1899 series from DARK creators coming to Netflix in November 2022
By Mads Lennon
Jantje Friese and Baran bo Odar, the creators of the acclaimed Netflix mystery series Dark are back with a new series called 1899 and this one looks like it’s going to be twistier than ever. Netflix shared some fun behind-the-scenes featurettes and a short teaser at Geeked Week earlier this year and now we finally have an official release date set for this November!
1899 will be similar to Dark in that it’s a mystery show, but this one will lean more into horror and it’s a period epic that takes place on the open sea. A group of immigrants is sailing on a steamship from London to New York when they get caught up in a strange riddle and spot a second vessel adrift in the ocean.
We also know that the first season will consist of eight episodes, likely each an hour long in length.
1899 confirmed for a November release date
During Netflix’s annual Tudum fan event, it was announced that 1899 season 1 would premiere on November 17, 2022. Luckily for us, that’s not too far away which means we have plenty of time to revisit Dark to get a reminder of just how talented Odar and Friese are as storytellers.
